Sailing adventure with the Blue Clipper along the coasts of Portugal and Andalusia.

Step aboard the impressive tall ship Blue Clipper and set sail along the stunning coastline of Portugal’s Algarve and the enchanting southern coast of Andalusia in Spain. During this unique sailing journey, you’ll experience the charm of traditional tall ship sailing while exploring ancient harbour towns, rugged natural landscapes, and hidden bays.

The journey begins in Portimão, a historic harbour town renowned for its shipbuilding and sardine fishing traditions. This atmospheric city still breathes its maritime heritage and serves as the perfect starting point for your sailing holiday.

Enjoy the warm autumn sun as you sail past towering cliffs, golden beaches, and rolling green hills. Along the way, explore the Algarve’s striking rock formations, walk its dramatic coastal paths, and discover hidden sea caves by paddleboard—far from the usual tourist trails. A true highlight is the world-famous Benagil Cave near Lagos, only accessible by water, making it the perfect spot to explore from the Blue Clipper.

Your adventure may also take you to the Andalusian coast, where you can explore the fragrant countryside filled with eucalyptus forests and ancient white villages. A special stop is the historic city of Cádiz, almost entirely surrounded by water. With its 3,000-year history, Roman ruins, narrow medieval streets, and whitewashed squares, it is one of Spain’s oldest and most distinctive cities. The iconic Torre Tavira, once a lookout point for passing ships, is a reminder of Cádiz’s rich maritime past.

This sailing journey does not follow a fixed itinerary: the route is determined by the wind and weather conditions, allowing you to fully enjoy the sailing experience and nature. At the start of the journey, the captain will assess the most favorable and adventurous sailing plan. Along the way, there will be plenty of opportunities to go ashore, hike, discover local harbors, or simply relax on board.

Highlights of this journey:

  • Sailing on a traditional tall ship
  • Exploring caves and coastal formations such as Benagil
  • Relaxed sailing in the autumn sun
  • Cultural stops in places like Cádiz and Lagos
  • A combination of adventure, nature, and relaxation

Frequently asked questions

We still handle your bookings personally and therefore do not have an automatic booking system. This way, we can enable you to reserve individual places for a few days without any obligation. This allows you, for example, to arrange your holiday without someone stealing your place from under your nose. For this reason, we cannot keep track of the exact number of free places on a daily basis. However, we regularly check the availability of our sailing holidays. Therefore, you can generally assume that plenty of free places are still available on all trips that are not marked as ‘fully booked’ or ‘Last Minute’. Call us or use our booking form if you want to know the exact number of places available.

If you are travelling alone and have not booked a private cabin, you will be accommodated in a shared cabin. The shared cabins are usually assigned based on gender.

Exceptions:

  • On the Belle Amie and the Seatrips yachts, there are sometimes mixed-gender cabins as well.
  • On the Sir Robert, there are no shared cabins. Are you traveling alone? Then you must book a single cabin..

Yes, vegetarians and allergies/intolerances can be catered for on most ships. On some ships, the menu can also be adapted for vegans. However, there is only one menu per day on the programme. Therefore, please let us know during your booking if you have any special dietary requirements.

In principle, all our trips are suitable for both experienced and novice sailors. The professional crew on board will teach you everything you need to know. In some cases (e.g. on Atlantic crossings) initial sailing experience may be an advantage/requirement. In this case, this will be clearly indicated in the cruise description.
