This trip is not a feminist journey, but more an opportunity to give women the space to learn to sail without the ingrained gender roles we all so often fall back on.
This voyage starts and ends in Aron’s home port Svendborg and is sailed together with the schooner Johanne (Aron’s sister ship). This sailing area is known for its sheltered, calm seas and moderate winds, making it a perfect introduction to traditional sailing. On board the Aron, you will learn the tricks of the trade in a safe and supportive environment, while enjoying the breathtaking scenery. The low waves and minimal swell ensure that sailing between the islands rarely causes seasickness, allowing you to fully enjoy your time on the water.
Sailing trips on the Aron offer unique experiences, where the wind in the sails, the sound of the waves and the team spirit on the ship create memories that last. Aboard the two schooners Johanne and Aron, you feel the freedom and community, while sailing together and exploring the Danish islands and harbour towns.
Learn to sail: Regardless of your experience, you can participate in sailing and learn from the experienced female crew.
Nature Sights: Enjoy Denmark’s coastline and possibly spot porpoises and seals.
Social interaction: Use the time to get to know other sailors and create new friendships.
Relaxation: Find a quiet corner and enjoy the sun and sea breeze while relaxing with a good book.
There is room for 10 women on each ship, and two experienced female crew members ensure that everyone – regardless of sailing experience – feels safe and welcome.
During the trip, we let the wind determine which islands and towns we will visit. The possibilities are endless: from the almost Caribbean-looking beach of Lundeborg to the fishing town of Bagenkop, the boating town of Marstal, the adventurous Ærøskøbing, or one of the idyllic small islands.
Perhaps we will stop at Skarø, known for its world-famous ice cream, or Drejø, with its fascinating history. Perhaps we sail to Lyø, with its quaint village and mystical bellstone, or to Strynø, where you can visit the tasting centre. Perhaps we explore Avarnakø, with its many hills.
What all these towns and isalnds have in common is their rich cultural history and cosy atmosphere. On the small islands, you will unwind and taste the rhythm of life as it was a few generations ago.
All sailing trips on the Aron are all about good sailing, tasty food, pleasant company, and actively participating ( to the extent you can) in all daily activities on board.
