Your luxury expedition yacht
The Scorpius is a valuable addition to the fleet. A comfortable and beautifully built vessel—one could even say it is more of a yacht than a traditional sailing ship. This steel yacht is not very old; it was newly built in 1991 at one of the most prominent shipyards for superyachts: Jongert Shipyard. This means you are sailing on an exceptionally strong steel vessel that feels at home anywhere in the world, no matter how extreme the conditions.
Warming up in style among the icebergs
When you step aboard the Scorpius, you’ll find a very stylish and modern interior, designed for a comfortable stay. On deck as well, the Scorpius is equipped for comfort and luxury, with pleasant seating areas and easily managed rigging.
The best spot? The deck saloon. Here you can sit warmly by the stove while enjoying views through the large windows of glaciers and drifting ice floes.
Technically, the Scorpius is also excellently equipped and prepared for long polar voyages, featuring advanced navigation systems, a well-equipped kitchen, furling sails, a washing machine, a watermaker, and more.
Your place on board.
You can come aboard with your own group of up to 10 people
- Sleeping: The Scorpius features a Master Suite with a private bathroom, as well as several comfortable double cabins.
- Sustainable: The ship relies as much as possible on the power of the wind. This is not only incredibly peaceful, but also the most sustainable way to visit this fragile natural environment.
The voyages of the Scorpius
The Scorpius sails in the polar regions. In 2012, she circumnavigated the globe, including a voyage to Antarctica. These special expeditions to the polar areas are never undertaken without a professional and experienced crew. There is also a polar guide and a chef on board.
Sailing the seas on a sailing vessel and visiting the Arctic regions is a sustainable way to travel—and an opportunity to enjoy the driving power of the wind.
Planned trips:
What does a typical day look like?
You wake up in a completely silent bay, with the smell of fresh coffee in the air. After breakfast, you review the charts together with the guide and the captain. We hoist the sails and navigate between the ice floes toward a new destination.
In the afternoon, we take the Zodiac (our fast inflatable boat) ashore for a walk among penguins or seals. We end the day with a good glass of wine on deck and a top-quality dinner from the galley, while the sun seems reluctant to set.
During the scheduled voyages, there is no fixed daily schedule on board, for several reasons:
The weather in the polar regions can be highly unpredictable, and we must take that into account. We also aim to adapt to the specific preferences of each group; some guests are eager to see whales, while others may prefer skiing or diving.
Nevertheless, detailed information is always provided about the opportunities and activities at the locations we visit.
Ready for the adventure of a lifetime? Book the Scorpius and discover the polar regions in the most beautiful way possible!
