Blue Clipper

The Blue Clipper, built in Sweden in 1991, is an impressive three-master with a gaff rig. With a clipper bow, an original teak deck and an elegant stern, she offers a traditional tall ship experience combined with relatively modern construction, giving guests an authentic experience with all modern conveniences.

She has sailed around the world for many years, spending her summers in Scotland and the Hebrides. In autumn, she sails south towards Spain and Portugal before crossing the Atlantic for some winter sun in the Caribbean. Originally owned by the cognac company Hennessy and named ‘Spirit of Hennessy’, she appeared in many TV programmes and commercials before being bought privately in the late 1990s.

On deck, there is plenty of space for guests to fully immerse themselves in sailor life, such as hoisting sails, learning knots and even steering the ship.

A spacious saloon, wheelhouse and galley are also on deck level, while below deck is well thought out with six spacious cabins with private shower and toilet. All cabins have full-size bunk beds, a small desk, a porthole for natural light and heating/air conditioning. There is also a galley, of course, where the dedicated chef prepares breakfast, lunch and dinner for guests. Local produce is used whenever possible; think hearty, home-cooked meals, fresh bread and cakes – perfect after a day in the salty air. Next to the galley is the spacious saloon. Comfortable leather sofas and long tables offer a great place to socialise with other guests over dinner and drinks.

A TYPICAL DAY
After a hearty breakfast, the crew starts preparing the sails and discusses the plan for the day with the guest crew. After checking the charts and raising the anchor, the sails are set in search of a scenic anchorage, preferably off the beaten track. After a few hours of sailing, the anchor is dropped and guests can explore ashore or just relax on the ship with a book – the choice is yours.

The beauty of exploring the coast from the comfort of a ship is that you can reach remote, hard-to-reach destinations away from the tourist crowds. The Blue Clipper has 3 kayaks and 3 SUPs for use by guests when the ship is at anchor, allowing one to explore even further into the coast.

Sailing trips

De Blue Clipper is een elegante schoener perfect voor degenen die een actieve zeilvakantie in comfort en luxe willen!

From hoisting the sails to steering the ship, the friendly and knowledgeable crew is always ready to teach you the ropes. One of the wonderful aspects of sailing on such a majestic tall ship is the chance to actively participate in a safe and supportive environment! The permanent crew is professionally trained, so while guest participation is certainly encouraged, you may also just relax and enjoy the view. And for those worried about their physical ability to hoist the sails, there are a host of other chores on board. Like, for example, shoring up ropes, preparing landlines and keeping watch. During the longer Atlantic crossings, guests work with the crew and take turns participating in the night watch system.
