Adventure from the Schlei to the Baltic Sea
From the picturesque fjord landscape of the Schlei, we set course for the open sea. Ahead of you lies a week full of summer sailing adventures in the western Baltic Sea: warm evenings in charming Danish harbors, peaceful anchoring in sheltered bays, and enjoying life under sail.
With a bit of luck, we may even sail around Funen—the second-largest island of Denmark. On board, you can relax completely, but also learn a lot about sailing and historic ships. No experience is needed, and good food and drinks are provided. Sit back and enjoy the summer aboard the Engelina.
Danish South Sea – Islands with Character
There’s a good chance we’ll stop at the islands of the Danish South Sea along the way. Each island has its own unique character and charm.
On Ærø, you’ll discover Marstal with its maritime museum, and Ærøskøbing—a town that seems straight out of an Andersen fairy tale. On Funen, you’ll find lively towns like Fåborg with its medieval center, or Sønderborg on the island of Als, where even the queen spends part of her summer aboard the Dannebrog.
But it’s the smaller islands that truly steal your heart. South of Funen, between the Little and Great Belt, lie gems like Lyø, Avernakø, and Strynø. Here, you can stroll past grain fields and orchards to the village, where a small grocery store, a cozy Krø, and homemade treats await. With a coin in the jam jar, you can buy honey, jam, or second-hand books—simpler and more Danish than this is hard to find. These are the islands where nature lovers feel truly at home. Often, you can also rent a bike at the harbor to explore the islands.
The German Baltic Coast
The German coast also has its own charm. In the fjord region—between Kiel, Eckernförde, the Schlei, and Flensburg—you’ll find traces of Vikings, fishermen, and a thriving tourism scene.
Here, steep cliffs alternate with golden rapeseed fields, and picturesque towns with half-timbered houses are tucked along the waterfront. Marinas, campsites, and small towns make this a diverse region that invites exploration.
