From Galicia to the green Basque Country

From the wind-swept coasts of Galicia to the green Basque Country: step aboard the tall ship Morgenster for a 5-day sailing adventure along the spectacular northern coast of Spain. This voyage from A Coruña to Pasai brings together the joy of coastal exploration with the camaraderie and the rhythm of life under sail.

A coastal voyage full of character

Unlike an ocean crossing, during this cruise we follow Spain’s Atlantic coastline, where rugged cliffs, sleepy fishing villages, and hidden coves await us. Depending on the weather and the wind, we will likely stop at one or two ports along the way. Each harbor has its own charm, with colorful houses, lively quaysides, and cafés that seem made for sailors fresh from the sea.

On board, the pace is relaxed but never dull. You can help set the sails, take the helm, or learn the ropes — or simply enjoy the view from the deck as the coastline slowly drifts by. Whether you’re an experienced sailor or embarking on your first adventure, everyone finds their sea legs aboard the Morgenster.

The joy of the journey

As we leave A Coruña behind, the sails fill with the Atlantic breeze, and the coastline unfolds like a storybook of Spanish maritime history. During the day, the sun sparkles on the waves; at night, the stars return to their watchful posts above the masts.

This passage offers time to unwind, breathe deeply, and reconnect with the sea, with nature, and with yourself. Expect good company, hearty meals, and that unique sense of freedom that only a tall ship can offer.

By the time we reach Pasai, tucked between the green hills near San Sebastián, you’ll step ashore refreshed, inspired, and carrying memories of a journey that feels both timeless and personal.

Why this voyage?

Because it’s the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. The Morgenster is a traditional square-rigged tall ship with a warm and friendly crew who make everyone feel at home right away. You become part of an international group of travellers and sailors, sharing moments of laughter, stories, and unforgettable sunsets.

Each voyage is different, shaped by the wind, the weather, and the people on board. And that is exactly what makes sailing on the Morgenster so special.

Join the Crew – Places Are Limited

If you’ve ever dreamed of exploring the Spanish coast under sail, this is your chance to do it the traditional way — powered by the wind, surrounded by good company, and guided by experienced hands.

Set your course for the Basque Country. The adventure begins in A Coruña, and the sea will decide where the wind carries you next.

Meals on Board – More Than Just Food

Each day, the ship’s bell signals the start of a shared mealtime. The ship’s cook prepares three tasty, nutritious meals daily, with an extra snack at 4:00 PM. During the night watches, warm toasties are served—simple but comforting treats that add to the camaraderie aboard.

At each stop ashore, a supply of fresh vegetables and fruit is taken on board. The freezers are stocked with quality meat, and who knows—we might even catch a fish along the way.

On board, food is more than nourishment—it’s a way to connect. Around the table, stories are shared, friendships are formed, and you feel part of something special.

Frequently asked questions

We still handle your bookings personally and therefore do not have an automatic booking system. This way, we can enable you to reserve individual places for a few days without any obligation. This allows you, for example, to arrange your holiday without someone stealing your place from under your nose. For this reason, we cannot keep track of the exact number of free places on a daily basis. However, we regularly check the availability of our sailing holidays. Therefore, you can generally assume that plenty of free places are still available on all trips that are not marked as ‘fully booked’ or ‘Last Minute’. Call us or use our booking form if you want to know the exact number of places available.

If you are travelling alone and have not booked a private cabin, you will be accommodated in a shared cabin. The shared cabins are usually assigned based on gender.

Exceptions:

  • On the Belle Amie and the Seatrips yachts, there are sometimes mixed-gender cabins as well.
  • There are no shared cabins on the Sir Robert. Are you travelling alone? Then you should book a single cabin.

Yes, vegetarians and allergies/intolerances can be catered for on most ships. On some ships, the menu can also be adapted for vegans. However, there is only one menu per day on the programme. Therefore, please let us know during your booking if you have any special dietary requirements.

In principle, all our trips are suitable for both experienced and novice sailors. The professional crew on board will teach you everything you need to know. In some cases (e.g. on Atlantic crossings) initial sailing experience may be an advantage/requirement. In this case, this will be clearly indicated in the cruise description.
