The trip starts in Rostock, a historic port city where the atmosphere of ancient shipping can still be felt. The crew of the Albert Johannes will take the guests on board from 7pm. The next morning, it’s ‘All hands on deck and cast off! Together with an experienced crew, sails are hoisted and manoeuvres are performed.

From Rostock, you sail along the coast, with the sound of waves and the song of seagulls as background. The route is flexible, depending on the weather and wind, but several charming stopovers are possible.

One option is to sail to Fehmarn, a beautiful island in the Baltic Sea. Fehmarn is known for its idyllic nature, with wide beaches and quaint villages. The island is perfect for a short exploration, whether you take a stroll along the coastline or enjoy the local atmosphere in a café.

Another option is Wismar, with its rich history and charming old town, or perhaps a small port in Denmark if the weather is along, where the picturesque coastline and tranquillity of the Danish countryside welcome you.

The trip ends in Travemünde, a popular port city best known for the iconic sailing ship the 4-masted barque Passat, its bustling promenade and picturesque location on the Baltic Sea.

On this sailing trip from Rostock to Travemünde, guests have the unique opportunity to actively participate in life on board. From hoisting the sails and performing manoeuvres to helping in the kitchen, everyone on board plays a part in the shared adventure. It is a great way to learn more about the technique and rhythm of sailing, and to experience cooperation on board.

Besides the sailing itself, there is also the opportunity to climb the mast, which is an unforgettable experience for many guests.

Frequently asked questions

We still handle your bookings personally and therefore do not have an automatic booking system. This way, we can enable you to reserve individual places for a few days without any obligation. This allows you, for example, to arrange your holiday without someone stealing your place from under your nose. For this reason, we cannot keep track of the exact number of free places on a daily basis. However, we regularly check the availability of our sailing holidays. Therefore, you can generally assume that plenty of free places are still available on all trips that are not marked as ‘fully booked’ or ‘Last Minute’. Call us or use our booking form if you want to know the exact number of places available.

If you are travelling alone and have not booked a private cabin, you will be accommodated in a shared cabin. Shared cabins are normally divided by gender. Only on the Belle Amie and Seatrips Yachts do they sometimes have mixed cabins.

Yes, vegetarians and allergies/intolerances can be catered for on most ships. However, there is only one menu per day on the programme. Therefore, please let us know during your booking if you have any special dietary requirements.

In principle, all our trips are suitable for both experienced and novice sailors. The professional crew on board will teach you everything you need to know. In some cases (e.g. on Atlantic crossings) initial sailing experience may be an advantage/requirement. In this case, this will be clearly indicated in the cruise description.
