Join the Aron and board in the port city of Gothenburg, Sweden’s second-largest city, with picturesque canals and green boulevards. After setting sails, the Aron explores the picturesque archipelago and enables island hopping along the coast, while guests get the chance to sail a traditional wooden ship themselves.

On this trip, we will explore the archipelago off the coast of Gothenburg. We will visit small towns, larger cities, abandoned anchorages and natural harbours, where we can moor directly on the rocks.

Walk along winding paths beside the sea, past quaint harbour towns with iconic red cottages. This coastline and the islands are covered with beautiful nature reserves, a nature lovers’ dream.

Where will the wind take you?
These are some highlights of the archipelago’s islands. The wind will no doubt determine the Aron’s route, and this is by no means a comprehensive list, as there are hundreds of islets and skerries to discover off the Swedish coast.

Brännö
Brännö offers great swimming spots, beautiful nature and cosy cafés. The island is connected to the neighbouring island of Galterö via a small bridge, where you can explore the uninhabited island and its nature reserve.

Donsö
Donsö is one of the largest islands in the archipelago and an important port in Sweden. Climb to the top of the hill, Radarberget, for great views over the archipelago.

Vargö
Vargö, one of the furthest islands, is a nature reserve with interesting plant species and great swimming and fishing spots. Here you can walk among the rocks and protected valleys while enjoying the archipelago’s birdlife, which is dominated by gulls, eider ducks, shearwaters and forest birds.

Vrångö
The southernmost island in the Gothenburg archipelago, Vrångö has just 380 inhabitants. A quiet island that still relies on fishing, with a small post office and some shops. The island is especially famous for its beautiful nature reserves and excellent sandy beaches.

When you go on an adventure with the schooner Aron, the journey is the goal and not the destination. Our sailing trips offer unique experiences, where the wind in the sails, the roar of the waves and the togetherness on the ship create memories that last.

All sailing trips on the Aron are all about good sailing, delicious food, pleasant company, and actively participating ( to the extent you can) in all daily activities on board.

Frequently asked questions

We still handle your bookings personally and therefore do not have an automatic booking system. This way, we can enable you to reserve individual places for a few days without any obligation. This allows you, for example, to arrange your holiday without someone stealing your place from under your nose. For this reason, we cannot keep track of the exact number of free places on a daily basis. However, we regularly check the availability of our sailing holidays. Therefore, you can generally assume that plenty of free places are still available on all trips that are not marked as ‘fully booked’ or ‘Last Minute’. Call us or use our booking form if you want to know the exact number of places available.

If you are travelling alone and have not booked a private cabin, you will be accommodated in a shared cabin. Shared cabins are normally divided by gender. Only on the Belle Amie and Seatrips Yachts do they sometimes have mixed cabins.

Yes, vegetarians and allergies/intolerances can be catered for on most ships. However, there is only one menu per day on the programme. Therefore, please let us know during your booking if you have any special dietary requirements.

In principle, all our trips are suitable for both experienced and novice sailors. The professional crew on board will teach you everything you need to know. In some cases (e.g. on Atlantic crossings) initial sailing experience may be an advantage/requirement. In this case, this will be clearly indicated in the cruise description.
