Join Aron in Denmark’s capital city. Bustling Copenhagen is known for its colourful Nyhavn waterfront and historic architecture. With its famous Tivoli Gardens, theme parks and reputation as one of the world’s most sustainable cities, it is well worth adding a few extra days to your sailing holiday to explore the city.
After the city skyline slowly fades into the distance, the Aron spends the next few days exploring the peaceful islands and coastlines of the Øresund. On Monday evening, visit the charming coastal town of Skovshoved, just north of Copenhagen, to celebrate the enchanting midsummer night. The highlight of this celebration is a gathering with a bonfire on the beach, accompanied by local speeches and songs sung together.
Skovshoved is known for its picturesque harbour and beautiful beach. The village offers a peaceful, serene atmosphere and scenic hiking trails – ideal for nature lovers.
Next stop is the small port town of Elsinore, home to the famous Kronborg Castle, famous as the setting of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Stroll through the charming cobbled streets, past colourful Danish houses and a lively harbour, or visit the local Maritime Museum.
Weather-dependent, we then sail further north. Rich in Viking and medieval history, the fishing villages of Gilleleje and Hundested lie in the north of the island of Zealand. Both villages offer vast sandy beaches and quiet harbours with plenty of fresh fish. Hundested is also the hometown of Knud Rasmussen, a famous Danish polar explorer and anthropologist, who became known for his expeditions in the polar regions and his studies on Inuit culture.
The Aron returns to Copenhagen on Thursday evening, allowing guests to disembark at 10am on Friday morning.
When you go on an adventure with the schooner Aron, the journey is the goal and not the destination. Our sailing trips offer unique experiences, where the wind in the sails, the roar of the waves and the togetherness on the ship create memories that last.
All sailing trips on the Aron are all about good sailing, delicious food, pleasant company, and actively participating ( to the extent you can) in all daily activities on board.
