Flat-bottomed ships on the Baltic Sea? Don’t they belong in the Ijsselmeer? However, the robust, seaworthy flat-bottomed ships were already being used as cargo ships in Scandinavia in the first half of the 20th century. The shallow draught of the Pegasus is ideal for exploring shallow coastal areas and still guarantees a high degree of stability in rough seas. Ideal for a trip to the Danish South Sea or along the German Baltic coast.

If you want to be introduced to sailing, this is the right trip for you. On this short sailing trip, you’ll get a taste of what it’s like to let the wind take you to your destination. You will experience what life is like on a traditional sailing ship and all that is involved. Together with the captain and sailor, you will hoist the sails, participate in sailing maneuvers and haul in the sails just before port. This gives you the chance to be an active part of the crew and learn more about traditional sailing.

While sailing, there is also plenty of time to lie on deck and rest, enjoy, read, chat, peel potatoes, play games, hear the crew out endlessly, steer the ship (under supervision), practise knots, knit, and, and, and…

The pantry is richly stocked with everything needed for a real barbecue. Meat from the local butcher is also a must, of course! But don’t worry, vegetarians are also catered for. So we will have a delicious meal and the harbour where we barbecue is perfect for a stroll around.

Where the journey leads is determined by the wind and weather, and discussed on board with all participants. Relaxing days with sunshine and light winds are just as possible as days with strong winds and challenging sailing — it’s the mix that makes it so special.

A stop in the Danish South Sea is likely on the itinerary. This idyllic archipelago south of Denmark is characterized by clear waters, historic towns, and charming fishing villages. There’s no sign of massive hotels or mass tourism. A sailing trip offers the perfect perspective to experience the beauty of this region.

But the German coast with its fjords also offers a varied sailing area… How about, for example, a trip to Kappeln on the Schlei or to Flensburg?

Frequently asked questions

We still handle your bookings personally and therefore do not have an automatic booking system. This way, we can enable you to reserve individual places for a few days without any obligation. This allows you, for example, to arrange your holiday without someone stealing your place from under your nose. For this reason, we cannot keep track of the exact number of free places on a daily basis. However, we regularly check the availability of our sailing holidays. Therefore, you can generally assume that plenty of free places are still available on all trips that are not marked as ‘fully booked’ or ‘Last Minute’. Call us or use our booking form if you want to know the exact number of places available.

If you are travelling alone and have not booked a private cabin, you will be accommodated in a shared cabin. The shared cabins are usually assigned based on gender.

Exceptions:

  • On the Belle Amie and the Seatrips yachts, there are sometimes mixed-gender cabins as well.
  • There are no shared cabins on the Sir Robert. Are you travelling alone? Then you should book a single cabin.

Yes, vegetarians and allergies/intolerances can be catered for on most ships. On some ships, the menu can also be adapted for vegans. However, there is only one menu per day on the programme. Therefore, please let us know during your booking if you have any special dietary requirements.

In principle, all our trips are suitable for both experienced and novice sailors. The professional crew on board will teach you everything you need to know. In some cases (e.g. on Atlantic crossings) initial sailing experience may be an advantage/requirement. In this case, this will be clearly indicated in the cruise description.
