Dreaming of a breathtaking sailing adventure on a historic ship? Then you’ve come to the right place! We warmly invite you to join the Engelina for the Rum Regatta 2026. That means 5 days of sailing, three regattas, four harbor festivals, and over a hundred historic sailing ships all around us.

Day 1: The Herring Regatta from Kappeln to Sønderborg (May 14, 2026)
On Ascension Day, we sail from Kappeln to Sønderborg. Experience the refreshing breeze of the Baltic Sea and enjoy sailing on a historic Koftjalk during the unique Herring Regatta.

Day 2: Flensburg Fjord Regatta from Sønderborg to Flensburg (May 15, 2026)
The next day, we take part in the Flensburg Fjord Regatta. Sail together with many small and large gaff-rigged ships through the picturesque Flensburg Fjord and compete against other passionate sailors. A unique experience!

Day 3: The Rum Regatta on the Flensburg Fjord (May 16, 2026)
The highlight of this journey is the legendary Rum Regatta on the Flensburg Fjord. What makes this regatta special is that it’s not the first, but the second ship that wins the coveted 3-liter bottle of rum. Who will claim it this year? In the evening, the market and the city of Flensburg invite everyone for rum, singing, and fun.

This sailing trip takes place on board the Engelina, a ship with a rich tradition. Everyone is welcome to take part in this exciting race, no sailing experience is required. Together, we set sail, manoeuvre and bring the old lady on course. Freely inspired by the motto: participation and fun are more important than winning. Along the way, we will be in the best company of many other gaff sailors in the Flensburg Fjord.

Days 4 and 5: Relaxed sailing back to Kappeln
Over the next two days, we take our time to sail back to Kappeln at a relaxed pace. Whether we stop at a harbor or spend a night at anchor will, as always, be decided by the weather.

Frequently asked questions

We still handle your bookings personally and therefore do not have an automatic booking system. This way, we can enable you to reserve individual places for a few days without any obligation. This allows you, for example, to arrange your holiday without someone stealing your place from under your nose. For this reason, we cannot keep track of the exact number of free places on a daily basis. However, we regularly check the availability of our sailing holidays. Therefore, you can generally assume that plenty of free places are still available on all trips that are not marked as ‘fully booked’ or ‘Last Minute’. Call us or use our booking form if you want to know the exact number of places available.

If you are travelling alone and have not booked a private cabin, you will be accommodated in a shared cabin. The shared cabins are usually assigned based on gender.

Exceptions:

  • On the Belle Amie and the Seatrips yachts, there are sometimes mixed-gender cabins as well.
  • There are no shared cabins on the Sir Robert. Are you travelling alone? Then you should book a single cabin.

Yes, vegetarians and allergies/intolerances can be catered for on most ships. On some ships, the menu can also be adapted for vegans. However, there is only one menu per day on the programme. Therefore, please let us know during your booking if you have any special dietary requirements.

In principle, all our trips are suitable for both experienced and novice sailors. The professional crew on board will teach you everything you need to know. In some cases (e.g. on Atlantic crossings) initial sailing experience may be an advantage/requirement. In this case, this will be clearly indicated in the cruise description.
