Departing from the island of Faial in the Azores, the impressive tall ship Blue Clipper sets course across the Atlantic Ocean toward Liverpool, United Kingdom. This unique sailing trip is not an ordinary vacation, but a true ocean adventure that you will remember for a long time.

The rhythm of the ocean

During the crossing, you’ll be carried along by the trade winds that fill the sails and propel you hundreds of kilometers forward. From gentle breezes to powerful waves—each day brings new challenges and surprises. The experienced crew navigates using modern weather radar technology and teaches you all the tricks of the trade. In this way, you’ll not only develop your sailing skills but also gain a deeper appreciation for the power and beauty of nature.

Life on board

On this journey, you’re not just a passenger—you become part of the crew. Together, you’ll hoist the sails, take the helm, and discover what it’s like to sail on a tall ship. There’s always something to do: from navigating and working with ropes to cooking together or trimming the sails. At night, you’ll experience a breathtaking starry sky, completely free from any light pollution. You can participate in the watch system, but this is entirely voluntary: the ship is fully crewed, so support is always available.

Freedom in the middle of the ocean

In addition to the tasks on board, there is plenty of free time to enjoy the endless horizon, read a book, or simply relax. Life at sea offers a unique opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and fill your soul with a healthy dose of “Vitamin Sea.”

Practical tip: Horta, the airport on the island of Faial, can be reached via Lisbon. From the airport of Liverpool you can reach most other European countries by plane.

Frequently asked questions

We still handle bookings personally and therefore do not have an automated booking system. This allows us to offer you the option to reserve individual spots without obligation for a few days. This way, for example, you can arrange your vacation without anyone snatching your spot right under your nose. For this reason, we are unable to keep track of the exact number of available spots on a daily basis. However, we regularly check the availability of our sailing holidays. Therefore, you can generally assume that there are still enough available spots on all trips that are not marked as “fully booked” or “Last Minute.” Call us or use our booking form if you want to know the exact number of available spots.

If you are travelling alone and have not booked a private cabin, you will be accommodated in a shared cabin. The shared cabins are usually assigned based on gender.

Exceptions:

  • On the Belle Amie and the Seatrips yachts, there are sometimes mixed-gender cabins as well.
  • On the Sir Robert, there are no shared cabins. Are you traveling alone? Then you must book a single cabin..

Yes, vegetarians and allergies/intolerances can be catered for on most ships. On some ships, the menu can also be adapted for vegans. However, there is only one menu per day on the programme. Therefore, please let us know during your booking if you have any special dietary requirements.

In principle, all our trips are suitable for both experienced and novice sailors. The professional crew on board will teach you everything you need to know. In some cases (e.g. on Atlantic crossings) initial sailing experience may be an advantage/requirement. In this case, this will be clearly indicated in the cruise description.
