Experience the lead-up to the Tall Ships Races

Step aboard the majestic Tall Ship Morgenster and experience an unforgettable sailing voyage from Amsterdam to Aarhus, Denmark, where the Tall Ships Races 2026 will begin. This is not an ordinary crossing, but a journey full of anticipation, adventure, and pride as the Morgenster sails toward her place among the world’s most beautiful tall ships.

On the way to the starting line

From the Dutch capital, Amsterdam, we set sail and take a northbound course across the North Sea toward Denmark. Along the way, you’ll experience everything that makes sailing on a traditional tall ship so special: working together as a crew, hoisting the sails in the wind, and the close camaraderie that naturally forms on board.

Depending on the weather and wind, we may make a stop in a welcoming port or sail directly to Aarhus. The exact route is also adjusted according to the conditions: we can sail north along the Danish coast via the Skagerrak, or choose a more sheltered passage through the Kiel Canal (NOK) and the Baltic Sea. Whatever route we take, you’ll be fully involved in the daily rhythm of life at sea—hoisting sails, standing at the helm, keeping watch under a starry sky, and sharing meals and laughter in the galley—each day bringing new experiences.

A voyage with purpose

This voyage has a special purpose: we are sailing the Morgenster to Aarhus to take part in the Tall Ships Races 2026. Upon arrival, the harbor will already be buzzing with activity, filled with tall ships, crews, and visitors from all over the world.

You won’t arrive as a passenger, but as a crew member who helped sail the ship under full sail to Denmark. A truly proud achievement—a real seafaring experience!

Your Role Aboard the Morgenster

Sailing on a square-rigged tall ship is a unique experience, perfect for both experienced sailors and curious newcomers.

Aboard the Morgenster, you’re not just a passenger — you’re truly part of the crew. From hoisting the sails to plotting the ship’s position at sea, you’ll become an active participant in life on board. The experienced crew will gladly guide you, offering the unique opportunity to learn and experience every aspect of traditional seamanship. Tasks are tailored to your interests and abilities, ensuring there’s a role for everyone.

Up for a challenge? You can even climb the masts! Conquer your fear of heights and enjoy the breathtaking view from the yards, with the proud realization that you’ve experienced one of the most thrilling parts of life at sea.

The ship sails day and night, divided into three watches. Experience the camaraderie of being part of a watch, where everyone plays an important role in keeping the ship running smoothly and safely.

Why join?

Because this is your chance to be part of something bigger. You’ll experience the lead-up to an international maritime event up close and share this special journey with adventurers from around the world. Friendships and memories naturally form here—and last long after the voyage ends.

When the Morgenster finally sails into Aarhus among a fleet of impressive tall ships, you’ll feel the pride of knowing you helped bring her there.

Meals on Board – More Than Just Food

Each day, the ship’s bell signals the start of a shared mealtime. The ship’s cook prepares three tasty, nutritious meals daily, with an extra snack at 4:00 PM. During the night watches, warm toasties are served—simple but comforting treats that add to the camaraderie aboard.

At each stop ashore, a supply of fresh vegetables and fruit is taken on board. The freezers are stocked with quality meat, and who knows—we might even catch a fish along the way.

Frequently asked questions

We still handle your bookings personally and therefore do not have an automatic booking system. This way, we can enable you to reserve individual places for a few days without any obligation. This allows you, for example, to arrange your holiday without someone stealing your place from under your nose. For this reason, we cannot keep track of the exact number of free places on a daily basis. However, we regularly check the availability of our sailing holidays. Therefore, you can generally assume that plenty of free places are still available on all trips that are not marked as ‘fully booked’ or ‘Last Minute’. Call us or use our booking form if you want to know the exact number of places available.

If you are travelling alone and have not booked a private cabin, you will be accommodated in a shared cabin. The shared cabins are usually assigned based on gender.

Exceptions:

  • On the Belle Amie and the Seatrips yachts, there are sometimes mixed-gender cabins as well.
  • There are no shared cabins on the Sir Robert. Are you travelling alone? Then you should book a single cabin.

Yes, vegetarians and allergies/intolerances can be catered for on most ships. On some ships, the menu can also be adapted for vegans. However, there is only one menu per day on the programme. Therefore, please let us know during your booking if you have any special dietary requirements.

In principle, all our trips are suitable for both experienced and novice sailors. The professional crew on board will teach you everything you need to know. In some cases (e.g. on Atlantic crossings) initial sailing experience may be an advantage/requirement. In this case, this will be clearly indicated in the cruise description.
