From Barbados to St. Lucia along the enchanting Windward Islands

Start in tropical Barbados

The journey begins on the paradisiacal island of Barbados, famous for its turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, and colorful wooden houses. In Bridgetown, the UNESCO-listed capital with its stunning colonial architecture, it’s a pleasure to stroll around before boarding the majestic Blue Clipper. This is where your Caribbean sailing adventure begins

Island-hopping through the Caribbean.

With the trade winds in its sails, the Blue Clipper leisurely sails from island to island. The route is guided by the wind, but highlights such as St. Vincent and the Grenadines are almost always part of the journey. St. Vincent offers a mix of colonial charm and unspoiled nature, with black volcanic beaches, green hills, and impressive waterfalls. The Grenadines, a chain of small idyllic islands, are perfect for snorkeling in crystal-clear waters, kayaking along natural rock formations, or paddleboarding in secluded bays. Here you’ll also find some of the most picturesque villages in the region and idyllic spots often accessible only by boat.

Another possible stop along the way is Bequia, known for its charming fishing village and tranquil beaches. Each island has its own unique atmosphere, landscapes, and activities, making every day of the journey a new discovery

The journey concludes in St. Lucia, with its iconic Pitons rising like volcanic towers above the sea. Traditional fishing villages dot the coast, while the interior invites exploration through dense rainforests and breathtaking viewpoints.

Life on board

On board, everything is centered around adventure and comfort. You can actively help hoist the sails or steer the ship, always guided by the friendly crew. Prefer to relax with a book or simply enjoy the view? That’s possible too.

The ship’s chef prepares delicious meals daily using fresh, local ingredients, while you can dine together in the spacious saloon and share stories with fellow guests. The private cabins with en-suite bathrooms ensure a comfortable night’s sleep. Additionally, kayaks, paddleboards, and snorkeling gear are available for those who want to explore the coast up close.

Each day begins with a shared breakfast and planning the day’s route. After a few hours of sailing, the ship anchors in a new bay, where you can choose to go ashore or simply relax on board.

What makes this journey unique is the perfect balance between active sailing, relaxed island-hopping, and discovering off-the-beaten-path locations – an authentic Caribbean experience aboard a luxurious tall ship.

Tip: There are direct flights from Bridgetown (Barbados) to Manchester, London, Amsterdam, Düsseldorf, and Frankfurt. From St. Lucia, you can return to Europe via London Gatwick or London Heathrow with British Airways or Virgin Atlantic.”

Frequently asked questions

We still handle bookings personally and therefore do not have an automated booking system. This allows us to offer you the option to reserve individual spots without obligation for a few days. This way, for example, you can arrange your vacation without anyone snatching your spot right under your nose. For this reason, we are unable to keep track of the exact number of available spots on a daily basis. However, we regularly check the availability of our sailing holidays. Therefore, you can generally assume that there are still enough available spots on all trips that are not marked as “fully booked” or “Last Minute.” Call us or use our booking form if you want to know the exact number of available spots.

If you are travelling alone and have not booked a private cabin, you will be accommodated in a shared cabin. The shared cabins are usually assigned based on gender.

Exceptions:

  • On the Belle Amie and the Seatrips yachts, there are sometimes mixed-gender cabins as well.
  • On the Sir Robert, there are no shared cabins. Are you traveling alone? Then you must book a single cabin..

Yes, vegetarians and allergies/intolerances can be catered for on most ships. On some ships, the menu can also be adapted for vegans. However, there is only one menu per day on the programme. Therefore, please let us know during your booking if you have any special dietary requirements.

In principle, all our trips are suitable for both experienced and novice sailors. The professional crew on board will teach you everything you need to know. In some cases (e.g. on Atlantic crossings) initial sailing experience may be an advantage/requirement. In this case, this will be clearly indicated in the cruise description.
