Thrill and Freedom at Sea
Sailing at sea offers a unique blend of excitement, relaxation, and connection with nature. You’ll experience the freedom of the open sea, the power of the wind, and the calm of the water. Craving true offshore sailing—logging miles and standing night watches? Then join this Mile-Maker sailing trip across the North Sea.
From the Wadden to the Baltic Sea
At the end of April, you can sail from Franeker (NL) to Laboe (D) on the Baltic Sea. On the Wadden Sea, you’ll get used to life and sailing on board. Of course, we’ll make a stop at the Wadden Island of Terschelling, one of our favorite islands. Explore its charming village or take a walk through the dunes and forests.
Next, we sail out to sea, passing the Dutch and German Wadden Islands en route to Germany. If the wind and tides are favorable, we’ll visit the island of Helgoland. This small rocky island is known for its steep red cliffs, numerous bird colonies, and the 47-meter-high rock “Lange Anna.” Once the tides allow, we continue sailing to Brunsbüttel, at the start of the Kiel Canal. Since sailing is not permitted on this canal, we motor on to Kiel. Along the way, there’s plenty to see, including vibrant yellow rapeseed fields, large cargo ships, and various railway bridges. After Kiel, we take one final sailing stretch on the Kieler Förde before your sea voyage ends in Laboe.
Sailing, Relaxing, and Enjoying
On our Mile-Maker trips, the focus is on sailing and covering longer distances. Night sailing is possible, with the option to stand night watches. Besides the sailing activities, there’s plenty of time to relax, read, swim, or explore onshore.
Spending the whole day outdoors builds up a healthy appetite. Our chef knows just how to satisfy it: you’ll be treated daily to a hearty breakfast, a delicious lunch, and a flavorful dinner.
