Long summer trip from Kiel to Stockholm

The trip stretches over approx. 500 nautical miles, offering relaxed sailing but also challenging passages. Ideal for collecting miles for sailing licences. Between Norrtälje and Nynäshamn there are around 24,000 islands, each with its own charm. Sandön, Fjaderholmarna, Vaxholm, Utö, Svartsö and Huvudskar to name but a few on this unique journey through the Stockholm archipelago.

We start in Kiel Holtenau after the Kieler Woche and then have plenty of time to choose the most beautiful itinerary. This summer voyage through the Baltic Sea to Stockholm promises unforgettable experiences. Bright summer nights, unspoilt nature, sailing together on a sailing ship that is over 100 years old, glittering water and numerous islands characterise this tour. We start in the morning of July 4th in Kiel Holtenau. After getting to know each other on board over coffee and tea, we set sail. We will set our destinations together according to the wind and weather conditions: we will sail eastwards, past Fehmarn, southwards around Denmark, with possible stops on the islands of Falster, Møn and Bornholm. Our trip will take us along the Swedish coast, through the Kalmar Sound and under the imposing Ölandsbro. From Bornholm, we may decide to sail at night under the starry summer sky. The short nights in the north make night sailing particularly intense. The Kalmar Sound is lined with cosy harbours and genuine skerries, some of which are passed, others visited. Dreamy bays are ideal for anchoring.

The crowning glory of the trip is the famous Stockholm archipelago. It has over 24,000 islands and offers a fantastic sailing area. This region of Sweden is truly marvellous and an insider tip for all those who love Scandinavia and the Baltic Sea: rolling hills, green forests, typical Scandinavian houses and a special archipelago coastline. This coast is particularly characterised by numerous small, glowing red rocks. A beautiful and sheltered sailing area full of wonderful impressions of vast and almost unspoilt nature. You simply have to explore this area and then go for a swim in the crystal-clear water.

We reach Stockholm on July 13th, from where you can travel home comfortably by train, plane or ferry. Or you can spend a few more days in Stockholm, one of Europe’s most fascinating capital cities, which stretches across 14 islands in Lake Mälaren and proudly overlooks the Baltic Sea. Its imposing public buildings, castles and museums tell its rich ancient history in a fantastic way.

On board, you don’t need any previous knowledge to set sail together, as the experienced crew will guide you. After the first few days, you will become confident and know how to get the old lady sailing. If like, you can of course also learn how to steer the ship. The experienced skipper will give you plenty of support. The Belle Amie is equipped with all the necessary modern navigation equipment.

On this trip, we want to sail actively, go on manoeuvres together, navigate, steer the ship, eat delicious food, relax, perhaps read a good book, go for a swim in the sea, explore the harbour towns, take special photos and sail a lot.

This trip will be accompanied by a professional crew and there will be 10 – 16 guests on board.

Frequently asked questions

We still handle your bookings personally and therefore do not have an automatic booking system. This way, we can enable you to reserve individual places for a few days without any obligation. This allows you, for example, to arrange your holiday without someone stealing your place from under your nose. For this reason, we cannot keep track of the exact number of free places on a daily basis. However, we regularly check the availability of our sailing holidays. Therefore, you can generally assume that plenty of free places are still available on all trips that are not marked as ‘fully booked’ or ‘Last Minute’. Call us or use our booking form if you want to know the exact number of places available.

If you are travelling alone and have not booked a private cabin, you will be accommodated in a shared cabin. Shared cabins are normally divided by gender. Only on the Belle Amie and Seatrips Yachts do they sometimes have mixed cabins.

Yes, vegetarians and allergies/intolerances can be catered for on most ships. However, there is only one menu per day on the programme. Therefore, please let us know during your booking if you have any special dietary requirements.

In principle, all our trips are suitable for both experienced and novice sailors. The professional crew on board will teach you everything you need to know. In some cases (e.g. on Atlantic crossings) initial sailing experience may be an advantage/requirement. In this case, this will be clearly indicated in the cruise description.
