A unique experience on a truly traditional sailing ship.
There’s no week like this one: Kiel Week – nine days full of sailing, music, culture, and joy of life. The world’s largest sailing event comes together here with Northern Europe’s biggest summer festival. The whole city celebrates – on land, in the harbor, and on the water.
The highlight: the Windjammer Parade. Around a hundred traditional sailing ships – barques, brigs, and schooners – sail in parade formation through the Kiel Fjord, usually led by the Gorch Fock. An impressive spectacle that captivates thousands of spectators on land and at sea every year.
And you can be there – on board an authentic traditional sailing ship!
Come aboard the haikutter Platessa from Esbjerg, a carefully maintained two-masted ship from 1935. Feel the wind, the gentle sway of the vessel, and the special atmosphere as the sails are hoisted.
The experienced crew warmly welcomes you and takes great care of you. You can relax and enjoy the breathtaking view of the parade – or roll up your sleeves and, under the crew’s guidance, actively take part in setting the sails or steering the ship.
A maximum of 25 guests are on board, ensuring a personal and friendly atmosphere.
Reserve your spot now and experience the Windjammer Parade 2026 from a unique perspective – right on the water!
