Join tall ship Blue Clipper on the island of Barbados and enjoy authentic Caribbean island hopping via the Windward Islands of St Vincent and the Grenadines to St Lucia.

This Caribbean sailing holiday adventure is sure to have something for everyone, from traditional sailing on a tall ship in perfect trade winds to island hopping, wildlife spotting and relaxing on tropical islands away from crowded tourist resorts.

Tropical island paradise Barbados is known for its stunning turquoise waters, powder-white sandy beaches and colourful wooden houses lining the streets. The UNESCO World Heritage capital Bridgetown, built in the 17th century, is a fine example of British colonial architecture. It is well worth spending some time here before boarding the tallship Blue Clipper for your Caribbean sailing adventure.

Blue Clipper is docked or at anchor in the port of Bridgetown on the island of Barbados, ready to welcome you on board. As with all our sailing holidays, the Blue Clipper will make the most of the Caribbean trade winds, sailing and island hopping from Barbados through the Windward Islands of the Grenadines to finish on the island of St Lucia

The Grenadines are a chain of small idyllic islands with an abundance of picturesque anchorages, dense jungle, rolling hills and black volcanic sand beaches. Explore the set used for the film “Pirates of the Caribbean” and explore waterfalls just a short walk from the beach. Spend some time here snorkelling, swimming and kayaking along the coastline full of natural rock formations. The Blue Clipper has stand-up paddle boards and a double kayak that guests can use to explore the coastline – (this is included in the price).

The volcanic peaks make the island of St Lucia a spectacular landmark in the Windward Islands and offer a breathtaking endpoint to your Caribbean sailing holiday. The villages along the coastline are mainly traditional Caribbean fishing towns, lined with volcanic beaches and great snorkelling and diving opportunities. The interior of the island is home to dense rainforest with varying levels of hiking trails if you feel like hiking after your sailing trip.

A typical day on board:
After a hearty breakfast, the crew starts preparing the sails and discusses the plan for the day with the guest crew. After checking the charts and raising the anchor, the sails are set in search of a scenic anchorage, preferably off the beaten track. From hoisting the sails to steering the ship, you are cordially invited to participate in all sailing activities on board. After a few hours of sailing, the anchor is dropped and guests can explore ashore or just relax on the ship with a book – the choice is yours.

Tip: There are direct flights from Londen to Barbados as well as from St.Lucia to Londen. If you’re not living in the UK, you can contact us for further travel advice.

Frequently asked questions

We still handle your bookings personally and therefore do not have an automatic booking system. This way, we can enable you to reserve individual places for a few days without any obligation. This allows you, for example, to arrange your holiday without someone stealing your place from under your nose. For this reason, we cannot keep track of the exact number of free places on a daily basis. However, we regularly check the availability of our sailing holidays. Therefore, you can generally assume that plenty of free places are still available on all trips that are not marked as ‘fully booked’ or ‘Last Minute’. Call us or use our booking form if you want to know the exact number of places available.

If you are travelling alone and have not booked a private cabin, you will be accommodated in a shared cabin. Shared cabins are normally divided by gender. Only on the Belle Amie and Seatrips Yachts do they sometimes have mixed cabins.

Yes, vegetarians and allergies/intolerances can be catered for on most ships. However, there is only one menu per day on the programme. Therefore, please let us know during your booking if you have any special dietary requirements.

In principle, all our trips are suitable for both experienced and novice sailors. The professional crew on board will teach you everything you need to know. In some cases (e.g. on Atlantic crossings) initial sailing experience may be an advantage/requirement. In this case, this will be clearly indicated in the cruise description.
