On the last evening of this year’s Hanse Sail, we welcome you to the bustle of departing traditional sailing ships and tall ships. Together with a number of other ships, we will depart from Rostock towards the Baltic Sea on Monday morning.
Whether we make one or more stopovers in Denmark or sail directly east depends, as always, on the wind and weather.
A first destination could be the small Danish town of Nysted on the island of Lolland. With its charming harbour surrounded by historic buildings and cosy fishermen’s cottages, Nysted is an inviting place for a quiet stopover.
Another possible highlight of the trip is the Danish island of Møn. The island is particularly famous for the imposing Møns Klint, the white chalk cliffs that fall steeply into the Baltic Sea. These cliffs are a spectacular sight from the water.
Back in German waters, Hiddensee awaits us. The island is a natural paradise that can be explored on foot or by bike with its long sandy beaches, dune landscapes and vast meadows. The port of Vitte or Kloster offers a perfect starting point to visit the famous Dornbusch lighthouse or just enjoy the relaxed, unhurried atmosphere of the island.
And if everything fits, we can even do a round of Rügen. Beyond Cape Arkona, the chalk cliffs and Königstuhl, idyllic ports like Lohme and Gager await you.
