During the trip, you can relax and enjoy the peace and quiet, but also learn a lot about historic ships and sailing techniques. Experience is not necessary! Whether you are discovering sailing for the first time or are already familiar with life on board, you will have plenty of opportunities to gain new skills and fully enjoy being a sailor.
It is not just the larger towns, but the idyllic villages and islands that make this region so special. South of Funen, between the Little Belt and the Great Belt, lies a beautiful archipelago that you definitely don’t want to miss. On islands like Lyø and Avernakø, you walk through fields full of corn and fruit trees on your way to atmospheric villages. Here you will find small shops and sometimes a cosy café (krø in Danish). In front of many houses are stalls selling homemade products and second-hand goods, where you simply leave cash in a jam jar – a typically Danish scene. These islands are a paradise for lovers of peace and nature.
Germany’s Baltic coast also has its own charm. In the fjord landscape around Kiel, Eckernförde, the Schlei and Flensburg, where Vikings once lived, you now find fishing villages and cosy tourist spots. With its steep cliffs, vast rapeseed fields, picturesque campsites and small harbours surrounded by half-timbered houses, this region offers a unique atmosphere.
The perfect mix of activity and relaxation allows you to experience all aspects of sailing and have an unforgettable time on the water. Afternoons and evenings also give you plenty of opportunity to explore the charming ports and their surroundings on your own.
One of the highlights of the trip is a night at anchor, a unique experience that we include in every itinerary. We will take you to the most beautiful spots of this region, known for its picturesque islands and atmospheric port towns. During the trip, we may stop at several pearls of the Baltic Sea, each with its own character:
- On the island of Aerø is Marstal, with a fascinating maritime museum, and Aerøskøbing, a fairytale town that seems straight out of a Hans Christian Andersen story.
- On Funen, Denmark’s second largest island, we visit lively towns like Svendborg or Fåborg, the latter known for its medieval centre.
- Sønderborg, on the island of Als, is among the larger towns in the region and is even loved by the Danish royal family – former Queen Margrethe spends several weeks here every year on the royal yacht Dannebrog.
The exact route and possible stopovers always depend on wind and weather and can therefore only be discussed on board.
