This journey is part of Limfjorden Rundt, the largest annual traditional sailing event for historic ships in Denmark. Every September, around 60 to 70 classic vessels gather to sail together through the Limfjord for a week. The atmosphere is unique – a blend of maritime tradition, camaraderie, music, culture, and stunning nature. In every harbor, you’re welcomed with live music, food, and encounters with fellow participants and local residents. It’s an unforgettable experience for young and old alike.
It’s a fun and active sailing trip where you’ll use all your muscles—especially your laughing muscles! At the same time, you’ll travel 100 years back in time and experience the harbors and waters of Denmark as they looked during the golden age of sailing ships. In the evenings, we dock side by side with other vessels, giving you the chance to meet their crews, share stories and experiences from the day… and maybe hear a few funny sailor tales.
You do not need to have any knowledge of sailing, but we do expect you to want to learn and actively participate. It is important that you are in good shape and mobile for this sailing trip.
Lunch on this voyage is highly weather-dependent and can sometimes be little more than a quick bite of rye bread between manoeuvres. But in the evening, we show what we can do in the galley, so there is always something to look forward to.

⚓ What makes Limfjorden Rundt special?
1. Traditional Sailing Ships in Action
The event is exclusively for classic wooden sailing ships such as galleasses, cutters, yawls, and smacks – many of these vessels are over 100 years old and lovingly maintained. This makes the regatta a sailing maritime museum, where history comes alive on the water.
2. The Largest Classic Regatta in Europe
Limfjorden Rundt is the largest annual regatta for traditional sailing ships in Europe.
Each year, around 60 to 70 vessels participate, coming from Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and other countries.
3. More Than a Race
Although sailing speed is part of the event, the regatta focuses more on togetherness, culture, and tradition than on pure competition.
In every harbor, participants are welcomed with music, food, and often a local folk festival. Every evening is a unique celebration!
4. The Limfjord as a Unique Location
The Limfjord is an inland sea in North Jutland with a uniquely varied landscape: narrow passages, wide waters, small islands, and picturesque harbors. Sailing here is both challenging and beautiful — and the short distances make it accessible even for less experienced sailors.
