The Koftjalk (seagoing barge) Engelina was built in 1908/09 in Stadskanaal/Groningen for coastal cargo sailing on the Baltic Sea and has always remained true to her homeground. During the summer months, the ship still sails the Baltic Sea from the German port cities of Kappeln and Stralsund.
Today, the Engelina offers up to 36 guests the opportunity for an exclusive day on the water. For longer trips, 20 guest crew members can check into one of the 7 cabins on board. The days of hammocks are over! All cabins are equipped with comfortable beds, a sink with hot water, central heating and electricity (220V). Plenty of storage space for personal belongings is also available.
The large and spherical dayroom offers plenty of space at three tables for getting to know each other, delicious dinners, successful meetings and cosy evenings with lots of sailor stories. You can always grab a book from the small board library or explore the games box together. Young and old, everyone is welcome on the Engelina.
Sailing experience is not a must for a trip on the Engelina. The crew will teach you all about setting sails, tying knots and navigation in no time. Therefore, it would not take long until you are at the helm yourself. Experienced sailors but also true landlubbers can enjoy incredible versatility in sailing. The Engelina has a standard sail area of around 300m2. But this can be increased by more than double with topsails, staysails, water sails and even a square foresail.
Koftjalks are very stable vessels with good sailing characteristics. Ideal for family holidays! The high sides ensure the necessary safety and make the Engelina especially suitable for children. During sailing, the ship does not list very much and wind and waves do not matter much to her. Naturally, we will discuss together where the trip is going and in which ports we will spend the night. Or do you want to spend a night at anchor? It’s your holiday.
